Usain Bolt and Daniel Bailey running 100 m at the Lucozade Sport/G.C. Foster College Classics ,Kingston, Jamaica first 100m race of the year 2009
Usain Bolt ran his first 100m race this year in his hometown Spanish Town, Jamaica. With a headwind of plus 2.3 and the competition of Daniel Bailey of Antigua, Usain Bolt won the race in 9.93 seconds. This was was Usain Bolt’s third competitive individual event this year following two 400 metres triumphs.
Usain Bolt was trailing begind Daniel Bailey most of the race until there was approximately 10 meters until the finish line, when Usain Bolt caught up and won. Usain Bolt was one of the seven participants, running in lane four.
Usain Bolt was happy with his race, and ran the same meeting last year in 10.03 seconds. He told reporters “It’s a good time, based on the stage that my training is at and I am feeling alright. It was really a good race; I missed a lot of training so I am trying to get it right “.
Bolt is running his next 100 m race Jamaica International Invitational meeting in Kingston on May 2 and was not planning to participate in the Lucozade Sport/G.C. Foster College Classics meeting. He told reporters “I am not sure what I am going to do from here. I am just starting my speed work, so we’ll see how it goes from here”
